Background:
Born and raised in Queenstown, New Zealand, I spent most of my life in this vibrant town. During my teenage years, I attended Christ's College in Christchurch, where I discovered my passion for computers, though my initial focus was on rowing and rugby. After finishing school, I returned to Queenstown and worked in the tourism industry while dabbling in part-time IT work.
Learning:
I pursued my studies at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin, New Zealand, completing a Business Systems course and subsequently earning a Bachelor of Information Technology. Although the curriculum didn't allow for a specialisation in web development, my interest in this field grew, leading me to self-teach the necessary skills to succeed as a web developer.
Employment:
While studying, I designed and built several websites for companies around the Otago region. My first professional IT role was as an IT Administrator at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, where I worked for three months during my summer holidays. After graduating in mid-2003, I embarked on a 3.5-year stint in London. Initially, the transition was challenging, but I soon found opportunities in freelance IT work. I then secured a position as a web developer at Digitactive, followed by a role as Lead Developer at the New Media Agency Underwired*, where I worked for over three years. I have now returned to Queenstown, New Zealand, where I serve as a director of Swordfox, a Web Design & Brand Agency.
Travel:
Since leaving New Zealand in August 2003 for my Overseas Experience (O.E.), I have visited nearly 25 countries, including Egypt, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Greece, where I attended the Olympics and explored the Greek Islands. Along the way, I've participated in remarkable festivals like La Tomatina, known for its massive tomato fight, and Oxegen, where I enjoyed performances by top bands such as Green Day & the Killers and much much more.
Present:
I am married with children, happily settled in Queenstown, New Zealand.
